Almost zero sales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And he\u2019s not the only one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A small tour operator told me: <em>\u201cI spend \u20ac1,000 a month on social media ads\u2026 but nothing comes back.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you know what that reminds me of? The story of the drunk looking for his keys under the streetlamp. Not because he lost them there\u2026 but because that\u2019s where the light is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s the truth: in 2015, putting everything into META worked. Today, it\u2019s just the easiest way to fool yourself into \u201cdoing marketing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Want real results with Facebook and Instagram? You need huge budgets.<br>And as soon as you stop paying, you disappear. Nobody remembers you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because technology has advanced enormously, but people haven\u2019t changed that much: we\u2019re afraid of being scammed, and on social media it\u2019s increasingly hard to tell who\u2019s honest from the worst fraudsters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The solution is to build trust, which means:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Being present on reliable and credible channels.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Creating real relationships with your local community.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Partnering with those who already have your customers\u2019 trust.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Being genuinely present, where and when people make their choices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Why am I telling you all this?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because in a couple of weeks, the first episodes of our podcast <em>\u201cFrom Bike to Business\u201d<\/em>, dedicated to the bicycle economy, will be released.
