According to a recent study, 75% of houses in Italy are empty.
We all know that the main reason behind this situation is real estate speculation, but that figure also includes a huge number of beautiful, abandoned houses that are just waiting to be rediscovered — and yes, cycle tourism is the key to bringing them back to life.
That’s the idea that inspired Augusta and Luca to leave everything behind and open “Casa Bart,” an accommodation in the province of Cuneo dedicated to welcoming those who choose to spend their holidays by bike.
So far, so good — but I know what you’re wondering: How do they find their guests?
That’s the question at the heart of the new episode of the podcast “From Bike to Business”, in which Augusta Angelino shares her journey from a secure job in multinational marketing to venturing into the business of cycle tourism.
If you’ve also been thinking about turning your grandmother’s old house into a source of income, the first thing I recommend is to listen to the podcast.
LISTEN NOW:
SPOILER: To find guests, Luca and Augusta have always taken part in the Fiera del Cicloturismo (Cycle Tourism Fair). The next edition will take place in Padua from March 27th to 29th, 2026.
