This morning I passed by a vintage bike shop in my neighborhood and couldn’t believe my eyes: they no longer sell bikes, only offer repairs and urban bike rentals for tourists.

It perfectly illustrates the paradox the bike world is experiencing right now: bike sales are stagnant, more and more shops are closing, yet there are more cyclists on the streets and cycle tourism is growing at double-digit rates year after year.

“Chaos” is the mildest way to put it.

Yet there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and Andrea Panzeri, CEO of RMS, showed it during the latest episode of the podcast From Bike to Business.

RMS is a little-known name to the general public because it works exclusively with bike shops, knowing them inside out.
